Kevin Eitzmann holds the title of Field Staff Representative at the Capital District Area Labor Federation (CDALF) where he has been employed since 2009. In the role of Field Staff, Kevin implements the programs of the Federation and provides hands on leadership for the political and legislative agendas of the CDALF and its parent organization the AFL-CIO in the 11-county area of the Greater Capital Region. Kevin is responsible for coordinating assistance for contract and organizing campaigns of local unions and any national and state AFL-CIO program work that needs to be done throughout the year.

Since coming to work at the CDALF, he has revamped the communications structure, becoming its first digital strategist. Kevin has also enhanced the CDALF’s connection to the local community by leading new initiatives like the Community Round Table, a coalition of labor and community groups. He is also one of the founders of Capital District Next Generation United, a group that brings together young people to learn more about unions and encourages their participation in the fight for progressive issues.

Prior to his employment at the Federation, starting in 2004, Kevin was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He began his labor activism in CWA as a shop steward, advanced to chief steward and finally to Albany Vice President. He worked as a political coordinator to help elect worker friendly politicians and then lobbied them to support issues that were important to working families. . Kevin was also an instructor at CWA, teaching hundreds of members about the importance of Unions, Universal Healthcare and the Employee Free Choice Act.
