A visibility action can be a fun way to raise awareness, attract positive media attention, mobilize and build your base, and educate the community about your issue. However, a visibility action can also be a big flop if you have not engaged in thoughtful planning. In this workshop, you will hear about some successful and some not so successful visibility actions. Have you considered who your target(s) and your allies are? Where will you get the most exposure? What resources do you have? What is the media angle? What is the larger social and political climate? Are you organizing in a community you know well or one that is unfamiliar? Most importantly, how does this action fit into your campaign goals and move your activist work forward? Come hear and discuss what it takes to be visible and have an impact in an interactive workshop.
